How to get from Milan to Bellagio: train, ferry or private transfer.
Bellagio sits on the tip that divides the two branches of Lake Como and has no railway station: from Milan you cannot reach it with a single public service. There are three ways: train to Varenna-Esino plus ferry, train to Como plus boat or the C30 bus, or a door-to-door private transfer, about 73 km and an hour and a half from Milano Centrale. Here are times, 2026 prices and who each suits. Updated October 2026.

By train to Varenna, then the ferry
An hourly train runs from Milano Centrale to Varenna-Esino: about 65 minutes, from about 7.40 euro. From the station you walk down to the pier and cross the lake to Bellagio. It is the most direct public route, but it depends on the ferry times: check the operator's timetable.
See the Milan → Varenna transferBy train to Como, then boat or C30 bus
The train from Milano Centrale to Como S. Giovanni takes 40 minutes, runs every hour and costs about 5 euro. The station is not on the lake: you reach the pier and continue by boat (about 45 minutes on the fast service, about 2 hours on the slow one) or on the C30 bus. For times and fares, check the operator's timetable.
See the Milan → Como transferBy taxi: no fixed fare
The regional fixed fares concern the airports and a few routes such as Malpensa to Milan. For Bellagio and the other lake towns there is no fixed fare: the ride is metered and you learn the price on arrival.
By private transfer: door to door
Your SG4 Luxury Services chauffeur meets you at the station, at your hotel or at the address you give and drives you to Bellagio: about 73 km and an hour and a half in normal traffic, with no changes. The fixed per-vehicle price, tolls included, is shown in the form and locked at booking.
See the Milan → Bellagio transferHow much is a taxi from Milan to Bellagio?
There is no fixed fare: the predetermined fares of the Lombardy Region do not include Bellagio or any Lake Como town, so the taxi runs on the meter. Our private transfer has a fixed per-vehicle price, tolls included, shown in the form before you book, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup.
Train and boat: timetables and limits
Trains to Como and to Varenna leave every hour; the lake services follow a seasonal timetable and thin out in the evening: check the operator's timetable before you leave. In Bellagio you get off at the pier or at the bus stop, not at your hotel, and the centre is made of stepped lanes: with suitcases, children or an evening arrival a car is the simplest choice.
